Top 10 Twelfth Doctor Adventures
10. Knock Knock - Haunted houses are always great, and this is a very likable, if not scary rendition of the cliche, with a surprisingly poignant performance from David Suchet at the center of it all.
9. Listen - Although the resolution is anticlimactic, and the Clara/Danny scenes painful, this is still one of the best performances Capaldi gave as the Doctor, and an excellent concept for an episode.
8. Robot Of Sherwood - A fun pastiche of the legend, especially with the cantankerous 12th Doctor. The spoonfight is brilliant
7. Twice Upon A Time - Combines the 1st and 12th Doctor eras in heartwarming fashion, with a visit to one of the most beautiful moments in history.
6. Mummy On The Orient Express - A solid reinvention of the murder mystery with great atmosphere and an imaginative monster, but a slightly dodgy plot.
5. Smile - Features the adorable Vardy, and a wonderfully slow burn first half that harkens back to the explorative first parts of classic serials which develops the 12/Bill dynamic.
4. Empress Of Mars - A lovely classic series homage that makes great use of a beloved monster and is sincere and charming.
3. Extremis - A tight, gripping mystery with unique locations that provides a breath of fresh air and creativity after a series of conventional stories.
2. World Enough And Time/The Doctor Falls - One of the best Cybermen stories and a superb Base Under Siege, that retroactively redeems earlier elements of the Capaldi era and features the much welcomed return of John Simm's Master.
1. Heaven Sent - Not only is the episode exquisitely shot, written and directed, but it features an awesome solo performance from Peter Capaldi and provides insight into the Doctor's way of thinking.
