Top 10 Sixth Doctor Adventures

10. Timelash - A mediocre little adventure enlivened by Paul Darrow's camp performance and the naive Herbert, who's a great foil for the Sixth Doctor.

9. The Mark Of The Rani - The Doctor, the Master and the Rani are a comedy goldmine, but there is literally nothing else interesting about this story. The three just run into each other.

8. Terror Of The Vervoids - A colourful murder mystery story, mostly notable for the new Doctor-companion dynamic.

7. The Two Doctors - The weirdest multi-Doctor story ever, where Two and Six somehow end up fighting cannibal chefs in Spain. And it is as epic as it sounds.

6. Attack Of The Cybermen - Gritty and cinematic, just the way I like my Cybermen stories. Maurice Colbourne is sublime as the cynical mercenary Lytton, and I do enjoy the connection to the 80s-set The Tenth Planet.

5. The Ultimate Foe - An awesome duel between the Doctor and his future self, set in the surreal world of the Matrix. With the Master and Glitz to spice things up. And it's only two parts! How could I not love it?

4. Revelation Of The Daleks - A truly chilling, morbid body horror story. The Daleks have maybe never been creepier even if they're barely in it, thanks to a single, brutal scene.

3. Mindwarp - Features an exquisite alien world, with some lovably barmy characters that are a lot of fun to watch interact. Also has one of the best cliffhangers in the show's history.

2. The Mysterious Planet - A charming Robert Holmes runaround that introduces the ever-lovable Glitz, and retools the Sixth Doctor into a worldwise charmer. A lot of witty dialogue and character interplay.

1. Vengeance On Varos - A terrific satire of TV violence, and an awesome quest storyline, where the Doctor and co are trapped in a labyrinth of horrors and must escape. Mesmerisingly good.
